Some twenty paid employees and eighty volunteers work at Loevestein Castle. Almost every day of the year, they’re here at the fort enthusiastically welcoming our visitors – over 120,000 per year!
Although old, Loevestein Castle is a relatively ‘young’ museum, founded in 1994 as part of the privatization of Dutch state museums. In its years as a museum, it’s grown to become a lively and dynamic museum that plays a key role in society and appeals to a broad public.
The organization is also becoming increasingly professional and meets every conceivable quality-related criterion, as a museum and a tourist attraction alike. We provide a wide range of services that makes Loevestein a leading player in the field of cultural entrepreneurship with self-generated revenue levels of 110%.
Loevestein is affiliated to the Dutch Museums Association.
