Criss-Cross the Maas & Waal Countryside by Bike
Loevestein Castle is located in an idyllic floodplain formed by the Meuse (Dutch: Maas) and Waal rivers. There are dozens of cycle routes that pass by the stronghold. Our castle is a veritable port of call for all cyclists out and about in the surrounding countryside.
Here are just a few tips, if you’re thinking about heading out on your bike:
- Rivierenland Cycle Junction Network
- Rivierenland Tour
- Snacks & Tracks (Happen en Trappen) (only available in Dutch)
Tourist Stop-Off Points
Loevestein Castle is one of Rivierenland’s official Bike TSPs (Tourist Stop-Off Points)… or in Dutch, TOP (Toeristisch Overstappunt). You can start your bike or hike here and perhaps even take in a visit to Loevestein Castle. So why not simply stop off at the castle to catch your breath?
You can even park your car free of charge at any Bike TSP (Fietstop) and also grab a bite to eat or something to drink. Information about cycle routes and other tourist attractions is available at the castle free of charge.
You can carry out minor bike repairs or recharge your e-bike for free. The charging point is next to the ticket office at the end of the castle wall.
