Loevestein Castle's Rural Setting
Loevestein Castle is located in the floodplain formed by the Meuse (Dutch: Maas) and Waal rivers. These wetlands are ideal for all sorts of flora and fauna, forming an idyllic habitat that is actually home to a wide range of plants and animals. Herds of Konik horses and a unique breed of cattle, the Rode Geus, graze the Munnikenland pastures.
You can also enjoy the castle’s surroundings in any one of numerous ways. You’re also welcome to visit the stronghold.
